In this role, you’ll carry out servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on light commercial vehicles to the highest standards.

You’ll also support with plant and agricultural machinery repairs, complete thorough inspections, and provide reliable breakdown assistance when needed, all while maintaining accurate records and a safe, efficient working environment.

South Wales Sports Grounds Ltd (SWSG) operates throughout Wales and into England. We undertake contracts for a range of clients, including local authorities, major contracting groups, universities, colleges, individual sports clubs, and private clients. Established in 1964, SWSG has cultivated a reputation as one of the leading sports surface contractors in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Great opportunity for an LCV Technician / Van Technician / Light Commercial Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Technician / Van Mechanic / Service Technician to join a busy workshop. You’ll handle servicing, diagnostics and repairs on LCVs/light commercials—on a straight day shift with no weekend working
  • Service, inspect and repair LCVs/light commercials to manufacturer/DVSA standards
    Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and complete effective repairs
    Accurately maintain job cards, service records and compliance documentation
    Help maintain a safe, tidy and efficient workshop environment
  • Assist the team with repairs on Plant and Agricultural machinery
  • Conduct annual thorough inspections to appreciate previsions.
  • Provide prompt and reliable on-site breakdown support across Wales and into England if required
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, adhering to company policy and health and safety guidelines and within agreed timeframes.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Light Vehicle or relevant equivalent (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI)
  • Proven experience as a Mechanic or similar role within construction plant maintenance. (essential).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. (Would be advantageous)
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team and manage time effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
